GARDEN OF THE IMMACULATA
BEING PLANTED IN THE MOST PERFECT SOIL
SAINT MARK 4:20
God of all creation, the God of eternal love gave to us His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. It was he who referred Himself as the vine (St. John 15:5), which would then make his Holy Mother the perfect soil. In the parable of the sower and the garden of truth, most seem to seem to give more importance on being the sowers, but what we here at maxMary would like to draw attention to the good soil we hear about and how it is closely tied to the Marian devotion and Franciscan mission of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe.
—IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD, 1830, Our Blessed Mother would reveal herself to a young novice sister in a convent in Paris, France. Through this encounter Mary would give an image of herself and would ask that it be made into a medallion that is to be worn around the neck. The original name of this medal was the Medal

of the Immaculate Conception, but because so many miracles of conversion and healings were credited to the medal that it became popularly known as "Miraculous".
100 years later, four Franciscans friars would leave their home country of Poland and traveled to the Orient as Catholic missionaries with the purpose of sharing devotion tothe very Miraculous Medal. Upon arriving to the city of Nagasaki, Japan they were eventually given permission by the local bishop to begin their work.
With poor and humble conditions and without knowing the language or customs, by the grace of God through the Immaculata, they were able to make great stride in just a short period of time. Most notable would have to be the including the printing of an all Japanese magazine without knowing the language.
Now as the 200th anniversary of the Miraculous Medal approaches, we hope to share this wonderful Catholic faith lived by one of the most heroic saints of modern times and to help share Marian devotion through his work.
